Ogden Martin Systems of Union

Ronald Dooney was the project manager for the remedial investigation and oversight of a twenty-acre site located in Rahway, N.J. The remediation was conducted in conjunction with the construction of a 1440 ton/day resource recovery facility initially owned by the Union County Utility Authority.

The investigation involved surface and subsurface soil contamination and extensive groundwater investigations. The project required continues onsite involvement for approximately 2-1/2 years and included tasks such as Health & Safety oversight, soil remediation oversight and cleanup verification sampling, wetlands mitigation, de-watering & discharge monitoring and creation of a permanent onsite landfill for contaminated soils.

Scope of Work was expanded to include the demolition and remediation of a former Amoco gas station. The remediation, which included 7,000 cubic yards of soil and groundwater, was conducted on a "fast track" to minimize impact to the construction schedule. A classification Exception Area was requested and granted for residual groundwater contamination.
